#10 – Installation of Comodo Internet Security (Comodo Firewall) on Windows 7 RC

Windows 7 has built in firewall but if you want to use another firewall with you installation of Windows you can do it. Commodo Comodo Internet Security (CIS) is just one of many free security suites which are available for download from Internet. Commodo Comodo Internet Security consists out of two parts, firewall and antivirus. During installation process you can decide which of those two components do you wish to install (you can also install booth if you want to).

Before latest update of Commodo Comodo Internet Security, to version 3.9,  installation on Windows 7 RC wasn’t straight forward. You just had to  to set installation package compatibility mode. Right compatibility mode for installation of CIS 3.8  is Windows Vista, and you also have to run setup with administrative privileges. This can be set by right clicking setup file, and checking desired options under Properties / Compatibility (as show on picture below).

With version 3.8 there was also some problems with update.

With Commodo Comodo Internet Security version 3.9 that was released on May 13th 2009 you no longer have to switch setup to compatibility mode before installation. You just run setup and that’s it 🙂 I’ve also noticed that update now works without a problem.

// Updated on 19th June: There was a typo, in stead of “Comodo” I’ve written “Commodo”. Sorry for that. //
